Brunswick Lake subdivision?

Moving to Houston and found a place in the Brunswick Lake subdivision in south Houston. Anybody familiar with the area? I am curious about the common things: groceries, shopping, traffic, crime, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
