Ca Can you use a curling iron with sisterlocks?

I have sisterlocks and I usually curl it with rollers but that takes a long time. I've tried using a curling iron but it never really worked but I was probably using it wrong....I'm wondering if I can use it on my hair....maybe if I put the heat on really high? I really don't know and also, what brand should I get if I can. Thanks so much!
