Extremely urgent question about planes! omg, answer or i really might die?

well not really but i have a question. i'll be leaving from Washington DC at about 5:00 PM local time and getting into Moscow, Russia at 11 AM local time. i've never flown overseas before so it's hard for me to visualize what it's like going through so many time zones! so how much of this flight will be in the dark? i can't sleep when it's light on a plane... if you're wondering about the path it flies north from DC over New Brunswick and then over Greenland (o_O) and over iceland, then over scandinavia into Russia
